Salt Lake

A whirlwind couple of days at the Outdoor retailier show in SLC. Need to sleep and de-tox. The OR show is quite a scene, its every big outdoor gear manufacturer and 100's of smaller ones trying to show their goodies so that retailiers set up wholesale accts and buy stuff. The ammount of work that goes into this thing is immense - some booths cost as much I'm guessing as a decent sized house in anchorage... It was quite a festive trip with non-stop adventures with the B.S, Zeena and the W.J. Got to meet up with good friends that I hadent seen in a while. No good pics again - they dont like that sort of thing...

In the end I made some good contacts and got some good ideas and material contacts for hi-tech goodness and got some serious schwag...

It was a very busy few days prior to the show, finally got the super twinkie factory going and made some uber-suppa-warm poggies for Mike C.

nothing in particular

What the heck.. I havent felt like posting much lately. Lots going on for sure though.
I had another appointment with my knee doc. Its been swollen and quite sore lately, I biked around too much the other week in fresh snow and I dont think it was quite over the freak bowling accident. So he told me to stop biking again.. So Instead of giving up my bike commute I simply just quit my job. How's that for priorities!? ha! Its never easy but I think I'm getting better at quitting perfectally good Engineering jobs, this time it helped having a friend as a boss but more so something to do with the previous post...

At any rate, lots of sewing to be done before I leave next week for the Outdoor Retailier Trade show in Salt lake, should be a pretty crazy good time.. I've heard the stories.

No good photos lately so I'll leave you with this:

Snap!!!

I'm morning the loss of an old friend. Suddenly taken from me on the morning commute.
Its just a chunk of Aluminum but it has done the business of driving my bike foreward over the last 7 or so years. Colorado, India, South America, Alaska, races, tours and countless rides. The other side snaped in the same place 3 years ago, then the inner chainring threads stripped out 2 years ago and has been held in by ecuadorian super glue since. The taper also survived a gouging bottom bracket spindle snap but the crank as always taken this in stride - until now.

I think I'm going to have it framed in all its broken bueaty.

The knee has been a bit more sore than usual lately, probably since I tweaked it bowling.. So it made for a very productive weekend sewing like an over-caffinated Malaysian 12 year old. Poggies, Bags for pugs, bags for fatbacks, Handlebar bags and the new dual zip panel opening gas tank. Almost caught up... Super twinkies are on deck...
Good stuff!

Happy new Year

Here are some more highlights of the trip back east.
What's there to do in Brewster? - go bowling, thats about it...

Went down to the city for new years...
From the top of the Rockerfeller Center

yeah - we wre up there - 70 stories!

Times square with the rest of the city...

Instead of being driven like Cattle (too many times already!) we opted out and went window shopping, or actually window looking.

I really wanted this tux.

You have to wonder what goes on in here...

ok enough BS, for now at least.
Its good to be back to winter in AK.
